The CharitiesYour donation will make a major impact on the lives of children and families in need around the globe, providing them help for a better life and hope for the future. See information on our first 3 charities below. Charity One: Amigos for Christ Amigos for Christ works to provide better opportunities for displaced and very poor families in Nicaragua. The work of Amigos includes building homes, schools, hospitals, health clinics, feeding centers, clean water systems, and latrines to improve physical living conditions. All work is done alongside and with the participation of community members. In addition, Amigos provides small loans to families and farmers so that they in turn can provide for their families.
Solidarity School is a Catholic school serving Hispanic immigrant families in Atlanta. The mission of the Solidarity School is to offer young Hispanic children a Catholic school education, focusing on proficiency in the English language, so that young children will have an opportunity for a better future. The School was specifically designed to serve some of an estimated 2,000 Hispanic families, mostly from Mexico, who live in the immediate area and is intended to be a model for small, inner-city schools: close enough for families they serve to walk to school, close enough so school and Church become central in their lives. Charity Three: St. Aloysius Gonzaga St. Aloysius Gonzaga is a Catholic secondary that has, since its founding in December 2003, served HIV/AIDS affected young people in the Kibera slums in Nairobi, Kenya. In order to be admitted to the school, students must have lost one or both of their parents to HIV/AIDS and their surviving parents must also be afflicted with the disease. Kenya's Aids crisis has left a generation of children not only without parents, but also without the basics needed to raise themselves from poverty: food, shelter and education. In the most deprived part of Nairobi, this school, set up by a Jesuit priest, is a lifeline. |
